Repositioning cruises take place as a ship moves with the changing seasons from one sailing area, such as Europe, to a different location, for example, Florida.

Fall repositioning cruises leave Europe for the tropics. You might sail from Barcelona around the coasts of Spain and Portugal with visits to Valencia, Cadiz, and Lisbon before crossing the Atlantic to Tampa, Florida. Or choose an itinerary that breaks the crossing in Ponta Delgada, in the mid-Atlantic Azores, and atmospheric Bermuda. You could sail from Rome to Fort Lauderdale, or Southampton, England to Port Canaveral.

In spring, cruises depart ports in Florida, including Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, and Port Canaveral, bound for Europe. Pick a voyage that stops at Cartagena, Spain, and the island of Mallorca. Or choose an itinerary that visits Gibraltar, Cartagena, and La Spezia, close to Florence and Pisa.

There’s also the option of a fall voyage from Lisbon to South America, stopping at Tenerife in the Canary Islands and then tracing the coastlines of Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina en route to Buenos Aires.
