At Celebrity, as we strive to make every one of our guests feel welcome, we value the importance of diversity among all our guests and crew. That's why we've been awarded LGBTQ+ Friendly Travel Company of the year for 2016 at the TTG Travel Awards, and we've won the title of Best Large Ship Cruise Line for LGBTQ+ Passengers at the Cruizie Awards for four years running.
Not only that, but we are proud to announce that as of 2017 same-sex marriages performed onboard our ships by the Captain are legally recognized. Whether you join us onboard for a vacation, your honeymoon, or even your wedding, you'll see why we're the best cruise line for gay, lesbian and all LGBTQ+ guests.
Each June, Celebrity Cruises® hosts our annual Pride Party at Sea. Every ship takes part in the celebration that brings our crew and guests together to honor and celebrate Pride.
Celebrity Cruises® is proud to offer legal same-sex marriages on board. The motion follows a transformative vote in Malta, where a majority of the Celebrity fleet is registered, which passed the country’s parliament 66-1. The long-awaited referendum opens the door for Celebrity to legally recognize same-sex marriages performed on board, and have the fleet’s captains officiate the ceremonies.
In a historic ceremony hosted on board Celebrity Equinox℠ in January 2018, Francisco Vargas and Benjamin Gray became the first same-sex couple ever to be legally married at sea on a major cruise line.
Our popular LGBTQ+ Welcome Parties are open to all guests fleetwide and take place on the first night of almost every cruise. This event is a great ice breaker and opportunity for people to meet. In addition to the Welcome Party, Celebrity also hosts various LGBTQ+ events and social hours onboard.
Celebrity has been a major sponsor for Miami Beach Gay Pride two years in a row. We’ve hosted onsite festival events, themed give-a-ways, entertainment performances from our Celebrity Productions team including specialty performances by Savannah Smith and Ashlee Amber, and a float in the parade, which took home first place. Over 400+ employees marched in the parade in 2018.
