Mockingbirds are one of the most common birds to see in the Galapagos. Some are endemic to specific islands. Galapagos mockingbirds tend to live in drier coastal areas and feed on a wide variety of foods, ranging from young finches, lava lizards, insects, centipedes, and seabird eggs. The younger birds assist their parents in maintaining a territory, defense, and in rearing newborn. During the dry season they have been known to land on guests in an attempt to get water from a bottle.
