Japan has been on your bucket list long enough. And there’s no better way to visit than aboard the Renewed Celebrity Solstice. Feel the excitement of Tokyo and witness the iconic Mt. Fuji. Overnight stays in historic Kyoto, pristine Aomori, and breathtaking Kobe let you explore more of the culture, history, and moments you’ve been dreaming about. Be part of incredible festivals, from Golden Week to Gion Matsuri. Celebrate the destination on board through omakase evenings, tea ceremonies, sushi making, and so much more. Take in views of the country's breathtaking coastline from new outdoor escapes like Sunset Park and The Retreat Sundeck. New dining at Trattoria Rossa and Fine Cut Steakhouse offers every flavour you love. New entertainment at Boulevard Lounge and Bar and space to game and gather at The Parlor make you wish the nights lasted a little longer. It’s time to experience Japan at its most stunning and see why Nothing Comes Close to Celebrity Cruises.
Overnight stays in Kyoto, Aomori, and Kobe deliver something no single day can. Explore endless red torii gates at Fushimi Inari and visit the dreamlike Arashiyama Bamboo Forest in Kyoto before letting the Gion district work its magic after dark. Wake up in Aomori to ancient castles, serene forests, and relaxing hot springs, and end your day witnessing the Nebuta Festival as it transforms the city after nightfall. In Kobe, ride a cable car up Mount Rokko to take in Japan's famed Ten Million Dollar Night View before sitting down to a teppanyaki dinner, savouring Kobe beef exactly where it was born. These are the once-in-a-lifetime days and unforgettable nights that define a bucket-list journey.
Japan’s festivals are not to be missed, and our incredible sailings are timed to let you experience every moment. In early May, Golden Week unfolds across the country, filling the streets with grand floats in a multi-day celebration. In July, overnights in Kyoto put you at the heart of the month long Gion Matsuri—Japan’s most celebrated festival. This tradition of lanterns, floats, music, and dance lights up the district where geishas have entertained for centuries. Across the country, July delivers Hanabi, or fireworks season, when harbours and riversides become open-air celebrations under skies blazing with color. August brings overnights in Aomori during Nebuta Festival, when warrior floats crowd the streets to the sound of thundering taiko drums. Each celebration is more magical and unforgettable than the last—and exactly the bucket-list Japan holiday you deserve.

Toni and Chris had known about Celebrity through advertising, marketing, word of mouth, and their own cruise research. What began as a trip chosen for the itinerary became something much more, with plenty of fun after dark and a wide range of guests to meet along the way.
Retired and ready to explore, Toni and Chris now make travel a priority. Chris served 20 years in the U.S. Army before beginning a second government career as a civilian Apache helicopter instructor for more than two decades. Toni retired after 20 years in hospital Human Resources and Administration. Today, they enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren in Enterprise, Alabama, the southeast Alabama community they have called home for 37 years.
Their first sailing with us was a 16-night Transpacific cruise aboard Celebrity Solstice, departing Sydney on 9 April and arriving in Honolulu on 24 April. For Toni and Chris, the itinerary offered the rare chance to complete two personal milestones in one unforgettable trip: their visit to Australia completed their seventh continent, and Hawaii became their 50th state.
Along the way, Celebrity Solstice left a lasting impression. Toni describes the ship as beautiful, adding, “We cannot say enough good things about the staff and the crew. The captain was often out and about with guests, the cruise director brought energy and enthusiasm to each day, and the crew seemed genuinely happy to be there.” For Toni and Chris, those interactions became part of what made the crossing stand out.
They also found plenty to enjoy on board, from laid-back dining to more elevated experiences like Chef’s Table and Omakase. The variety, the service, and the easy rhythm of sea days all helped turn a bucket-list itinerary into a holiday they would happily repeat. “This was our first-ever Celebrity cruise but definitely not our last,” Toni said.
Their next Celebrity cruise is already booked, and once again, the itinerary feels special. In February 2027, Toni and Chris will sail aboard Celebrity Millennium from Singapore to Tokyo, with port stops in Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Taiwan along the way. With so many exciting shore excursions offered, Toni says narrowing down how to spend each day wasn’t easy.
For a couple who loves to travel, that next adventure feels like the perfect continuation of a story still being written. Their first Celebrity sailing helped them celebrate where they’ve been, and their next one is already giving them another reason to look ahead.
Thank you, Toni and Chris, for sharing your story and choosing Celebrity for such a meaningful milestone. We’re honoured to have been part of the journey, and we can’t wait to welcome you back on board.
