I’m Dimitrios Kefetzis  (on the right) and I became the youngest (and funniest) Celebrity Cruises Captain at the age of 36 – until my younger brother, Tasos Kefetzis, (on the left) broke the record at 34. Now, for the first time ever, Tasos and I co-captain the fleet’s newest and most innovative ship: Celebrity AscentSM.


We were born in Piraeus, near Athens, so Greece  and its islands will always top our list of places to visit. With such a rich history, vibrant culture, and incredible food scene there’s something for everyone.


The Mediterranean cruises are always a favourite for the guests – and the crew! We love Portovenere and Cinque Terre in the Italian Riviera, also known as the Gulf of Poets because it’s attracted many famous writers. We can’t wait to sail around Europe this summer on Celebrity Ascent!​

In Civitavecchia, there are great restaurants all within walking distance of the ship - it’s a sin not to try the pizza or pasta!

 

Both of us love Portofino – a resort for the world’s jet set. We recommend hopping on a Taxi Boat for a relaxing tour as you learn about the area’s history from a local. 

 

Make the most of your day at sea by exploring some of the exceptional spaces on board. Try the cantilevered float pools at the Rooftop Garden, which extend right over the edge of Celebrity Ascent.

With an overnight stay in Lisbon, there’s plenty of time to enjoy the MAAT Museum and its lovely riverfront plaza. We’d suggest sampling the iconic pastry at Pastéis de Belém or visiting São Jorge Castle for panoramic views over the city.

 

Relax in the Parque Genovés in Cadiz – its exotic flowers and trees make it a favourite with the locals.

 

On board, you must try the aquatherapy spa at the Persian Gardens which will leave you feeling completely relaxed and refreshed. For delicious French dishes with a contemporary twist onboard, my brother and I both love Murano.​
