In this month’s member feature, join Captain’s Club members from Warrenton, Virginia, as they go from their first Celebrity vacation in the Galapagos to this year’s President’s Cruise in Norway.  

Mark and Denise Glasser have been happily sailing on sister brand Royal Caribbean since 2003. With a large immediate family including children and then grandchildren, the fit was a natural. When the kids grew up, the couple decided it was time to experience some of the bucket list destinations they had on their radar. So, for their first experience with us, they debarked on a 16-night inner loop Galapagos Islands sailing aboard Celebrity Flora, followed by a shoreside exploration of mysterious Machu Picchu, Peru. It was an incredible vacation, and having now experienced The Celebrity Way, the Glassers knew they’d be back soon.

In 2022, Mark and Denise reached Pinnacle status in Royal Caribbean’s Crown & Anchor Society. They requested a status match so they could sail aboard Celebrity Beyond in the Caribbean, and in April 2024, they enjoyed their first tropical sailing with us. They were cautiously optimistic. Their Galapagos sailing aboard Celebrity Flora raised the bar, and they were thrilled to find the same level of service and dedication on Celebrity Beyond. With expectations met and exceeded, they fell in love with Celebrity Cruises. “We love that the officers have lunch with us, and we are able to have meaningful interactions with them,” they told us. “One of our most fond memories with Celebrity is having a Zenith dinner at the Lawn Club and truly enjoying the officers company.”

One of their favorite activities is to have a martini in the Grand Plaza and meet fellow cruisers. They love the art of swapping stories, travel adventures, and taking notes to help plan their next sailing. And they do that a lot—up to five weeks a year. And now that Mark is retired, he sails even more often, going on vacations with his grandson, or even solo.

Recently, the couple joined us on the 2025 President’s Cruise aboard Celebrity Apex. It was the perfect match, having both the benefits of being the sailing of the year coupled with another of their bucket list destinations—the Norwegian fjords. “Since the itinerary was overseas, we decided to do back-to-back sailings, so we booked the sailing prior to the President’s Cruise as well,” they said.

That’s a tough act to follow. So where to next for the Glassers? “We have three Celebrity sailings booked right now together, and Mark has five other cruises booked that he’s doing solo,” they gleefully shared.

We don’t like to brag. Ok, maybe a little. But we have the best guests at-sea. And we’ll do everything we can to make sure every sailing Mark and Denise enjoys with us is better than the last.
