Discover a mouthwatering Hamachi dish featuring huitlacoche &  pumpkin leche de tigre

Celebrity Cruises combines a love of travel and food in one extraordinary vacation on this year’s Moveable Feast cruise, where we’ve partnered with Fine Cooking magazine and their Emmy Award-nominated PBS series Moveable Feast with Fine Cooking.

This Western Caribbean cruise itinerary on Celebrity Edge will feature chef and cookbook author Marcus Samuelsson and food expert, writer, and cookbook author Gail Simmons.

Chef Samuelsson is the youngest person ever to receive a three-star review from the New York Times for his innovative cooking at New York City’s Aquavit Restaurant. This multiple James Beard Award winner was inducted into the James Beard Foundation’s Who’s Who of Food and Beverage in America in 2016.

Gail Simmons is a trained culinary expert, food writer, and dynamic television personality. She’s been featured as a judge on BRAVO’s Emmy award-winning show Top Chef and is the host of Iron Chef Canada. Her first cookbook was nominated for an International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP) award for best general cookbook, and she frequently appears on television shows such as TODAY on NBC and ABC’s Good Morning America.

During your unforgettable seven-day Caribbean cruise, both Chef Samuelsson and Chef Gail will lead cooking demonstrations and host meals featuring their own delectable creations. Both chefs will share their techniques and expertise during private cooking classes, followed by lunch at one of our onboard specialty restaurants.

You don’t have to wait to sail on this exclusive cruise to taste one of the chef’s dishes. Try one of Chef Samuelsson’s creations in your own kitchen with this hamachi recipe. This dish perfectly captures the spirit of Caribbean culinary heritage by fusing ingredients such as huitlacoche, often called Mexican truffle, with the Caribbean triumvirate of coconut, ginger, and lime.

The addition of quinoa, an ancient grain that was a staple for Aztec, Incan, and Mayan cultures, and now a modern-day superfood, plus the finishing dollops of avocado cream bring Chef Samuelsson’s creation to the crossroads of culinary tradition and culinary innovation.
