Cape Liberty, New Jersey

This cruise port, the first to be built in New Jersey in 40 years, provides the perfect setting to the beginning or end of any voyage. From the vantage point of the deck, you can look out over the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, the Statue of Liberty, New York Harbor and all of lower Manhattan.
Travel Tips
1
While public transportation is available to bring you to a drop-off point outside the Cape Liberty cruise terminal, the Port Authority prohibits any guests to arrive at the port on foot; you can only arrive in a motor vehicle. So walking from the bus drop-off station is not an option. Therefore, you’re required to hire a taxi or other car service for the remainder of the way to the terminal. Taxis, Uber/Lyft drivers, and private car services all have access to the restricted areas of the port as well.
2
Since the cruise port sits on a peninsula off the mainland, there are no shopping options in proximity to the port, besides a kiosk with basic essentials in the cruise terminal. About a 20-minute drive from the port, you’ll find TJ Maxx and Walmart for last-minute cruise essentials.
3
The official currency in Bayonne is the U.S. dollar (USD). Major credit cards are widely used and accepted, and ATMs are readily available throughout the city and port. Most prices displayed on merchandise and food do not yet include gratuities or taxes. Tipping is not mandatory but is generally considered to be appropriate etiquette for services rendered, in line with the rest of the U.S.

Statue of Liberty (Cruising)

Experience a top-deck view of the Statue of Liberty, perhaps the world's best-known icon of freedom, opportunity, migration, democracy, and republican principals. Also known as Lady Liberty, the 151-foot iron and copper statue—305 feet with pedestal and foundation—is ranked among the most popular tourist sites in the United States. A Roman liberty goddess holds a torch above her head and a tablet inscribed "JULY IV MDCCLXXVI," the founding date of the United States. A broken chain lies at her feet. A gift from France, the symbol was conceived as early as 1865 by Édouard Laboulaye, sculpted by Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi, engineered by Gustave Eiffel, constructed in Paris, and dedicated in New York Harbor on October 28, 1886.

Day at Sea Highlights

Royal Naval Dockyard, Bermuda

Royal Naval Dockyard has something for everyone. Taste local flavors and stroll through the shops and museums. Or have a close encounter at Dolphin Quest, where you can see, pet and swim with these magnificent marine mammals.
Travel Tips
1
There are multiple ways to get around Royal Naval Dockyard and beyond. Under your own steam, you could rent a scooter or bicycle. Otherwise, there are minibusses offering shared rides, taxis, local buses, and ferries to Hamilton, the capital, and St. George’s, which are all clearly signposted. If you just want to stay within the Dockyard area, there’s a free tourist “train” connecting the main sights.
2
During your time in Bermuda, you can shop for local souvenirs like rum, rum cake, spicy pepper sauces, ceramics, linen, locally made fragrance, cedarwood items, and glassware. Royal Naval Dockyard has an impressive selection of shops where you can find all of these. Try the Crown & Anchor and Island Outfitters if you want to take home a pair of famous Bermuda shorts. You can buy hand-blown glass at Bermuda Glassworks, and rum-laced cake at Bermuda Rum Cakes. The Bermuda Arts Centre is also part of the Dockyard and features the work of local artists. You’ll find more local crafts in the Bermuda Craft Market in the historic Cooperage, the same building as the lively Frog & Onion Pub. The Dockyard Pharmacy goes beyond being a regular pharmacy and also sells flip flops, beach gear, and food. The Clocktower Mall, meanwhile, has more than 20 shops selling clothing, souvenirs, and crafts.
3
Bermuda’s currency is the Bermuda Dollar, which has the same value as the U.S. Dollar. Visitors may use USD to purchase just about anything around the island as it is widely accepted, though change may be given in Bermuda Dollars. Credit cards are accepted in most places. Tipping is welcome in Bermuda and is customary for a job well done. In restaurants, a tip of 15% to 17% is often already included in the bill, in which case it’s up to you whether you want to add more. Tip taxi drivers up to 15% on top of the fare, and good tour guides 10% of the cost of the tour.
