polenta
Polenta is boiled coarse cornmeal, usually served hot with tomato sauce and grated cheese. When the polenta cools, it takes on a thick and solidified texture that can be cut into strips or cubes that can then be eaten as is or fried in butter and seasoning. Polenta originally comes from Italy, but it’s popular throughout Europe and the Americas.
