Kailua Town and Lanikai Beach are located in the Ko’olaupoko District on the island of O’ahu in Hawaii.  In the Hawaiian language, Kailua means “two seas” or “two currents”.  One of the many things that make Kailua special is its world famous beaches, Kailua Beach on the winward coast of Kailua Bay and Lanikai Beach. With soft white sand and calm waters, Kailua Beach has been named in past years the world’s best beach. Flat Island and the Mokulua Islands (Moku Nui and Moku Iki) are an easy paddle from shore by kayak. Two of these three islands are bird sanctuaries.
