The weather in Los Angeles makes you want to get out and enjoy it on a daily basis. Luckily, there are many opportunities and locations for hiking in LA that make it easy to do just that. Here are three of the top places to indulge in some hiking in LA.
Runyon Canyon: The 3-mile Runyon Canyon loop takes you through the hills above Hollywood. You’ll get great views of the city, including the Hollywood sign and Sunset Boulevard. This trail is great for beginner hikers and is a popular one to go for great views, not peace and quiet. It’s especially amazing at sunset.
Solstice Canyon Hike: Located in the rustic woods of the Santa Monica Mountains in Malibu, the Solstice Canyon hiking trail takes you through nearly six miles of the mini mountain range. You’ll get a good workout while seeing old stone ruins along the trail and a waterfall.
Griffith Park: For one of the best possible views of the Hollywood Sign, put on your hiking shoes and head to Griffith Park. You’ll find signs for the Griffith Park Observatory and Hollywood Sign trail leading you to the top of the hill from which you’ll be nearly right in front of the famous Hollywood Sign and will be able to see incredible 360-degree views beyond it. The hike itself is a little over four miles and is of moderate difficulty in some parts though most of it is pretty easy.
When you’re looking more for peace and quiet than scenic lookout points, head to a different part of Griffith Park on the Bronson Canyon Trail. This will take you to and through the Bronson Cave tunnel. It is a quick hike to do as it’s less than a mile long.
