Sommeliers, Tastings, Winemakers and More Provide Wine Cruise Experiences You Don’t Want to Miss
If you’re looking for some of the ultimate wine cruise experiences you can have, you’ve come to the right place.
We pride ourselves on serving some of the best wines from around the world. Whether you’re in the mood for a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand or a French Bordeaux or a Chilean Tempranillo, you can likely find it when sailing on one of our ships.
So dedicated are we to the wine cruise experience our passengers can have that the Main Dining Room on our Solstice-class of ships features a two-story high wine tower. It keeps wines onboard our ship at the perfect temperature and also serves as a storage place for your wine. You can order a bottle of wine to enjoy with dinner and not worry about having to finish it. Your sommelier will expertly seal it and put it in the wine tower to save until the following night, when he or she will bring it back to your table in the Main Dining Room, or even deliver it to a specialty restaurant you’re dining in at your request.
Wine Cruise Experiences are Made Better with Dedicated Sommeliers
Speaking of sommeliers, they really enhance the cruise wine experience onboard our ships as well. There is a team of certified sommeliers on board each of our ships and they are available in our restaurants to provide you with recommendations on what wine will go best with your dinner, based on your taste preferences.
If you have a set dining time in the Main Dining Room, you’ll have the same sommelier each night you dine there who can get to know you and your wine preferences and provide a tailored wine experience for your meals throughout your cruise.
The sommeliers also conduct wine-focused classes throughout each cruise that you can sign up for as part of our CelebrityLife program. You can take interesting classes to learn about how wines pair with food, how the shape of the glass can affect a wine’s flavor, wine tasting 101, and sample wines from around the world (the latter is especially popular). Sign up as soon as you get on the ship to make sure the class you want to take doesn’t fill up – and in case you’re wondering, yes, tasting actual wine is part of each class! So bring your taste buds, not just your notepad and pencil (though you may find yourself wanting to take notes due to all the interesting things you’ll learn about wine from the sommeliers).
Wine Cruise Experiences in Ports of Call
The wine cruise experience with us isn’t just relegated to the ship. We make it a priority to find some of the best wine-related excursions you can have while in one of our cruise ports around the globe. From wine tasting during our exclusive Chef’s Market Discoveries to vineyard tours with local winemakers to traditional wine tasting experiences at award-winning wineries, you’ll be able to find a wine shore excursion to do in many of the ports of call on your cruise itinerary.
A Theme Sailing Elevates Your Wine Cruise Experience
If you want to take your wine cruise experience one step further, book yourself onto an itinerary that has a wine theme cruise happening on it. Think of theme cruises as special interest tracts you can put yourself onto during a sailing. You still get to experience all the regular perks of sailing on a Celebrity cruise, like our 5-star service, fun entertainment, delicious cuisine, and sumptuous accommodations, but you also get to take part in exclusive events on board the ship hosted by the organizers of your theme cruise.
Theme cruises are often put together by local travel agencies in partnership with an organization; in the case of wine theme cruises, a winery is often partnered with and you’ll likely get the chance to meet its winemakers while on board and do special tastings and shore excursions.
To find theme cruises with travel agencies and winemakers on the west coast, we’ve made it easy for you and have listed upcoming ones on our theme cruise page. Click on the links for each wine theme cruise to learn more about it and find out how to book your spot so you’re on your way to having an exciting, tannin-filled wine cruise experience.
