Two Solstice-Class Ships Will Be Sailing Alaska for Double the Modern Luxury
There’s a new ship in town! An Alaskan port of call town, that is. Celebrity Cruises is excited to announce that another one of its luxuriously designed Solstice-class vessels will be sailing Alaska for the 2019 cruise season. Which ship will be gracing Alaska with its presence? The beautiful Celebrity Eclipse.
Celebrity Eclipse is a sister ship to Celebrity Solstice, which has already been sailing Alaska itineraries out of Seattle, Washington. Celebrity Eclipse features many of the same aspects that make Celebrity Solstice (the original Celebrity Solstice-class ship) such a popular ship to have in Alaska.
One such aspect is the Lawn Club, a real-grass lawn located on the top deck of the ship that is perfect for relaxing with a book or drink while the mountains of Alaska tower around you, or playing a game of Bocce ball while sailing Alaska's Inside Passage. Other similar features include the two-story wine tower in the opulent main dining room, an indoor and outdoor pool area, delicious and healthy cuisine that uses fresh ingredients, a world-class spa that has a variety of treatments and services, and exciting shows in the onboard theater.
However, Celebrity Eclipse does have some differences from Celebrity Solstice, a big one of which applies to dining. One restaurant on Celebrity Eclipse that you can’t find on Celebrity Solstice is Qsine, which offers eclectic dining with unique presentation. That presentation has gotten even more amazing with the introduction of Le Petit Chef, a dining experience that lets you watch an animated chef run around your plate and table as he “prepares” your meal. Le Petit Chef is made possible thanks to 3D projection mapping technology and it is a fun and memorable way to eat.
Celebrity Eclipse Alaska Cruise Itineraries
So now you know you’ll be dining and traveling in style when cruising to Alaska on Celebrity Eclipse, but what will you see during that cruise?
Celebrity Eclipse will predominately be sailing 7-night Alaska Hubbard Glacier Cruises with an embarkation port of Vancouver, British Columbia. The cruise will end in Vancouver as well, making it convenient for roundtrip airfare. Celebrity Eclipse will make its way up to Alaska along the Inside Passage and will call at the Alaska ports of Juneau, Ketchikan, and either Sitka or Icy Strait Point depending on the itinerary date you choose. It will also spend a day sailing to the icy blue wonder of the massive Hubbard Glacier, an actively calving glacier that is magnificent to see.
Celebrity Eclipse will also be sailing one longer cruise itinerary that departs May 9, 2019. This sailing also leaves out of Vancouver and will sail a 10-night Ultimate Alaska itinerary. It will visit the ports of Ketchikan, Sitka, Skagway, Icy Strait Point, and Juneau in Alaska along with a sail through the Tracy Arm Fjord Terroir Wilderness that culminates in a glacier view. In addition, the cruise will stop in Victoria, British Columbia before finishing the itinerary back in Vancouver.
For west coasters, the news of Celebrity Eclipse sailing Alaska itineraries is especially exciting since it means two Solstice-class ships to choose from when booking a 2019 Alaska cruise, both of which are from embarkation ports that are easy and affordable to get to from most west coast airports.
Another good piece of news for west coasters? After the 2019 Alaska cruise season, Celebrity Eclipse will head down the coast to do a few sailings out of Los Angeles, including a roundtrip Hawaii itinerary, a roundtrip Pacific Coastal cruise, and a 16-night South America cruise that ends in Chile.
