Learn How You Can Help Celebrity Cruises Raise Money for Best Buddies and Make a Difference in People's Lives
Helping others and making a difference in the world are two things very important to Celebrity Cruises, and right now the Celebrity Cruises West Coast team is doing just that.
The Best Buddies Challenge
Celebrity Cruises' West Coast region sales managers are participating in a fundraiser for Best Buddies, an organization that is dedicated to ending the social, physical, and economic isolation of the 200 million people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Since partnering in early 2017, Celebrity Cruises has participated in the Best Buddies Jobs program, the Best Buddies Challenges, and has a key sponsorship role in Best Buddies' Miami Gala. Celebrity Cruises President & CEO, Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, also proudly serves on the Board of Directors for Best Buddies, International.
Right now, you can help the Best Buddies program, too, thanks to the Best Buddies Challenge . The Celebrity Cruises West Coast team will be participating in the Best Buddies Challenge, which is a bike race at Hearst Castle to raise money for Best Buddies. The team has a goal of raising $25,000. They are very close to reaching that goal and a donation from you (of any amount) would be very much appreciated.
Plus, anyone who donates at least $100 will be listed as a Celebrity Cruises Race Team Sponsor, with their logo proudly displayed at the Hearst Castle Challenge.
Donating is easy; simply click here and then click on the purple "Donate Now" button.
The Hearst Castle is an iconic place to have this race as it is perched high on a hilltop above the Pacific Ocean near Cambria, California. The Hearst Castle was mostly built during the first half of the 20th century as the residence of William Randolph Hearst. Its opulence and grandeur -- plus gorgeous location in the middle of nature and surrounded by the 80,000 acre Hearst Ranch -- make it unlike anything else in America, and today it is a National Historic Landmark and a popular tourist attraction.
It will also make a great backdrop for the Best Buddies Challenge, and Celebrity Cruises can't wait to be there on September 8, 2018, supporting this important cause.
Last year, Glee's Lauren Potter (who played Becky Jackson) and is a Best Buddy, helped the Celebrity Cruises team hand out eucalyptus and lavender infused towels to racers as they crossed the finish line. This year is sure to have its share of special moments as well.
More About the Best Buddies Challenge and Organization
The race begins at Hearst Ranch and extends through the central California valley and coast. Participants can choose between a 100 mile, 60 mile, 30 mile, and 15 mile ride. There is also a 5k run/walk race led by Olympic gold medalist Carl Lewis.
Best Buddies was founded in 1989 and has had the Best Buddies Challenge for the past 15 years.
Founded by Anthony Kennedy Shriver (son of Eunice Kennedy Shriver, who was the founder of the Special Olympics), Best Buddies is an international organization that has grown from one original chapter to more than 1,500 college, high school, and middle school campuses across the United States and internationally.
