Escape to These Secluded Beach Getaways During Cruise Ports of Call

If your idea of a great vacation is filling your days with secluded beach getaways, then a cruise is an ideal way to travel.

Here are some of the best secluded beach getaways to which you can escape while cruising and in what port of call you’ll find them.

Secluded Beach Getaways in Santorini

Santorini is one of the most picturesque places in the world thanks to its white washed buildings hugging a spectacular caldera that was formed thousands of years ago by the Santorini volcano. The caldera curves around the still visible top of the volcano, providing an incredible sea view (and one that makes for awesome sunsets).

On the other side of the island, that volcanic activity has created neat black sand beaches and even a read beach, popular for sunbathers and photographers. With so much beauty to see, Santorini can get a lot of visitors, but if you’re willing to get away from the main town of Fira, the popular village of Oia, and the popular black and red beaches, and instead head to the northeast side of the island, you can find gorgeous rocky beaches lined in volcanic rocks and void of tourists. To get there, rent a 4-wheeler or car in Fira and go for a scenic drive around the island.

Santorini cruise itinerary inspiration: On the 10-night Greek Isles Cruise out of Venice, Italy, you won’t just get to visit Santorini, you’ll also see the Greek islands of Mykonos and Crete along with visiting the ancient Greek cities of Athens and Katakolon. The itinerary also has an overnight port of call in the walled city of Dubrovnik, Croatia.

Cruise itineraries to the Greek Isles are also an excellent choice for special occasion cruises, such as a honeymoon or anniversary.

Secluded Beach Getaways in Capri via Naples

When in port in Naples, Italy, take the ferry across the Gulf of Naples to the Italian island of Capri. Luxurious and rugged, Capri is a dichotomy of designer touches and wild nature. When you arrive in Capri in the harbor of Marina Grande, you’ll want to take the funicular up the hill to Capri Town for some awesome views. But then you’ll want to head back down the hill to the other side of the island where you’ll find Anacapri and some gorgeous, secluded beach getaways like Faro di Punta Carena, located a 20-minute walk from Anacapri and framed by the picturesque Punta Carena lighthouse.

Capri cruise itinerary inspiration: Leave from Venice, Italy, onboard Celebrity Constellation on this roundtrip 9-night Adriatic and Italy cruise. You’ll visit Koper, Slovenia; Dubrovnik, Croatia; Kotor, Montenegro; Valletta, Malta (with an overnight); and Catania, Sicily; before ending your port of calls with a long day in Naples during which you can visit Capri.

Head to Nevis for a Secluded Beach Getaway

When in port in St. Kitts and Nevis during a Caribbean cruise, your ship will dock in Basseterre, where you’ll find fun Caribbean architecture, delicious restaurants, and some great duty-free shopping. However, if it’s a peaceful beach day you’re looking for, then don’t spend all day in Basseterre and instead take a water taxi or ferry across the Narrows (the name of the channel between the two islands) to the smaller island of Nevis. On Nevis you’ll find botanical gardens, a volcano you can hike to, and remote beaches perfect for a secluded beach getaway during your cruise.

Nevis cruise itinerary inspiration: Extend your island time by setting sail from San Juan, Puerto Rico on this 7-night Southern Caribbean cruise that has a port of call in Basseterre in addition to Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas; St. Johns, Antigua; Castries, St. Lucia; and Bridgetown, Barbados. You’ll also get a day at sea to enjoy the ship amenities before finishing your cruise vacation back in San Juan.

Secluded Beach Getaways in the Whitsundays

Australia is famous for its beaches and on an Australia cruise, you can visit one of its most popular secluded beach getaways: the Whitsundays. Located off the coast of Queensland close to the Great Barrier Reef, the Whitsundays are a series of islands that are made of small slivers of pale sand slicing through the sparkling teal Pacific Ocean. It’s most famous beach is Whitehaven Beach, which is known for its swirls of sand amidst varying shades of blue water; it’s a must-see on a Whitsundays shore excursion from the port of Airlie Beach, Australia.

Whitsundays cruise itinerary inspiration: Take off for 10 nights of fun in the land down under on this Great Barrier Reef cruise that sails from Sydney, Australia. You’ll travel on the beautiful Celebrity Solstice and visit Australian ports of call in Newcastle, Airlie Beach, Cairns, Willis Island, and Brisbane. You’ll also have a few days at sea to enjoy the ship’s amenities.

A Different Sort of Beach Getaway in Antarctica

It doesn’t get much more secluded than Antarctica. When you sail to the frigid bottom of the world you’ll find a different type of secluded beach getaway – one full of incredible ice formations and delightful marine life. Celebrity Cruises visits Elephant Island during its Antarctica cruises. While visiting Elephant Island you’ll get to take excursions with naturalists who will teach you all about the remote island’s history (with tales of exploration and survival!) and see elephant seals and penguins. In addition, Elephant Island is known for its beautiful moss bank, believed to be one of the oldest living things on earth.

Elephant Island cruise itinerary inspiration: Depart from Buenos Aires, Argentina on board Celebrity Eclipse. You’ll spend three days at sea making your way down to the southern tip of South America where you’ll visit Ushuaia, Argentina, and Cape Horn, Chile. This 14-night Antarctica Cruise then begins its Antarctica adventure with a sailing along the Schollart Channel and ports of call in Paradise Bay, Gerlache Strait, and Elephant Island. You’ll then have several more days at sea with stops in Port Stanley, Falkland Islands; Puerto Madryn, Argentina; and Montevideo, Uruguay interspersed among the sea days before arriving back in Buenos Aires.
