Overview: Don’t let your day end when the sun goes down. This adventurous sunset kayak tour leads to the fascinating Laguna Grande in Fajardo. Under the blanket of the night sky and the historical lighthouse of Fajardo, you can touch the waters that glow with bioluminescence organisms.
Highlights: - Paddle through a lagoon and watch the stroke of each paddle light up a florescent green - Includes all equipment needed
Full Description: The activity will start in the small fishing village of Las Croabas. Here you will meet the friendly staff and will be set-up with all equipment needed which includes double kayaks, paddle with leashes, lifejackets, safety lights, backrest, insect repellent, and two interpretive tour guides. Your adventure will start with waiver orientation and signing. Then your guide will give each group a complete pre-ride training, which will cover all aspects of the tour and the operation of your kayaks.
Your group will then be lead across a small fisherman’s cove to the entrance of Las Cabezas de San Juan Reserve. Here you will enter a mystical channel that leads to a peaceful place where the mangroves create natural tunnels and the sights and sounds of wildlife surround them. After a 15 to 20 minute paddle, you will enter the lagoon. You will paddle along the edge of the lagoon and watch as the stroke of each paddle lights up a florescent green and showcases fish that look like shooting stars. Your group will get a break point with beautiful views of the rainforest and the lighthouse of Fajardo. Along the way your guides will provide commentary on the natural reserve and points of interest that you encounter on your tour such as the mangroves forest, bird life, aquatic life, and dinoflagellate, the organism responsible for the bioluminescence. At your break point, about 1 hour into the tour and under a blanket of stars, you will start the return to the departure site which will take about 30 minutes.
At the conclusion of the tour, enjoy some light snacks and a bottle of water before returning to the ship.
