Make the most of your vacation with a shore and land excursion that appeals to your interests. Knowledgeable, professional guides lead all excursions and offer special insights into the culture, history, wildlife, and geology of each destination. Discover first-hand how islanders went about the business of growing, harvesting and refining sugar in 18th century Barbados. Take an invigorating mush across a snow-covered glacier aboard an Alaskan dogsled. Or stroll through the maze of tiny streets in Mykonos, the birthplace of Apollo.
Depart the pier and climb to an excellent viewpoint overlooking the charming town of Molde, Mount Varden. Proceed across the hills and travel along the Atlantic Ocean Road, to the quaint fishing village of Bud. Once in Bud, enjoy a coffee or tea and "svele," a local pastry specialty while taking in the scenery of the area. From Bud you will proceed to Ergen Fortress, which today is a restored memorial museum. With your guide, you may explore the underground network of bunkers, headquarters, and soldier's quarters complete with weapons and other memorabilia from World War II.
Your coach will take you for a short city sightseeing tour of Molde before ascending to the Mount Varden viewpoint. From the viewpoint on Mount Varden, begin your scenic hike downhill. A short break will be made outside the Storli Lodge before continuing through the forest to the Romsdal Museum, an open-air collection of ancient dwellings. On your way back to the pier, pass the Rekness viewpoint with views of the town and the surrounding mountains.
Important: Please remember you have up to 4 days prior to your sail date to purchase your regular shore excursions online. If you are within the 4 days, you will then need to purchase your shore excursions onboard; land excursions would need to be purchased directly through your Tour Director on the land portion of the Alaska Cruisetour. For example, if you are sailing on October 18, you can make Shore & Land Excursion purchases online until October 13.
