Upon arrival, drive down Merchants Quay, St. Patrick's Street, Grand Parade & South Mall where guide explains history of French Quarter, English Market, Father Matthew's statue & Bishop Lucey Park. Continue past City Hall. Photo stop at St. Finbarr's Cathedral. Continue along College Road & make stop at University College Cork. Before return to Cobh, stop at hotel for Irish coffee. Travel short distance to Cork to begin walking tour at St. Patrick's Quay. Begin with visit to St. Finbarr's Cathedral, built on site of St. Finbarr's original settlement. Returning towards heart of Cork, pass Rory Gallagher Plaza, Crawford Art Gallery and Opera House before stopping at traditional Irish pub. After visiting pub, rejoin coach for return to Cobh. Note: must walk approx 1 mile over varying surfaces & cobblestone streets with steps. Begin tour by walking street that Titanic passengers walked prior to departure. You'll pass buildings that housed White Star & Cunard Line offices. All buildings, streets & piers of Cobh Town have been architecturally preserved. Walking tour goes on carefully planned tour of Cobh. Sites, buildings & streets with direct connections with Titanic are revealed. Stop at Cathedral for good view of anchorage. Tour ends with visit to Irish pub for Irish coffee. Return to ship. Note: must walk approx 2.5 miles over uneven, cobblestone surfaces, inclines & 15 - 25 steps. If you are within the 4 days, you will then need to purchase your shore excursions onboard; land excursions would need to be purchased directly through your Tour Director on the land portion of the Alaska Cruisetour. For example, if you are sailing on October 18, you can make Shore & Land Excursion purchases online until October 13.
