Make the most of your vacation with a shore and land excursion that appeals to your interests. Knowledgeable, professional guides lead all excursions and offer special insights into the culture, history, wildlife, and geology of each destination. Discover first-hand how islanders went about the business of growing, harvesting and refining sugar in 18th century Barbados. Take an invigorating mush across a snow-covered glacier aboard an Alaskan dogsled. Or stroll through the maze of tiny streets in Mykonos, the birthplace of Apollo.
Leaving the pier you will proceed towards Pico dos Barcelos. Then continue towards Camara de Lobos, a well-known fishing village. Your tour will then proceed to Cabo Girão, the highest sea cliff in Europe and the second highest in the world. Passing by Estreito de Camara de Lobos, known for its vineyards, you will reach Quinta do Estreito which is found among vineyards on the southern slopes of the main wine producing area of Madeira. In the typical Adega da Quinta Restaurant you will sample some of the local wines and Portuguese cheeses.
Before visiting the hotel, you'll be taken on a panoramic city tour. Arriving at the hotel, your guide will take you through the gardens before tea is served, giving you the chance to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Tea menu includes a choice of teas, scones and cakes. Note: Guests must walk approx. 320 meters over uneven cobblestones, 20+ steps in the garden of Reid Hotel. The Hotel Reid's dress code for tea is smart casual; no jeans, shorts or tennis shoes are allowed.
Important: Please remember you have up to 4 days prior to your sail date to purchase your regular shore excursions online. If you are within the 4 days, you will then need to purchase your shore excursions onboard; land excursions would need to be purchased directly through your Tour Director on the land portion of the Alaska Cruisetour. For example, if you are sailing on October 18, you can make Shore & Land Excursion purchases online until October 13.
