Starting from the quayside on foot you will first pass Kilden, the new performing art centre on the way to Odderøya. The island has a very interesting military history having once been a naval base, and remnants of the ramparts, a gunpowder store, an old quarantine hospital and other 18th century buildings can still be seen.

Drive through the center of town to view the highlights as you head towards Evjegateway to the Setesdal Valley. Copper and nickel has been extracted from the Flåt Mines since 1844, as well as mining of quartz, feldspar and rare minerals. The exhibition area comprises five halls inside the mountain with a total area of 1,000 square meters, containing fabulous minerals and crystals from all over the world.
