Take a scenic drive to the bottom of steer cliff plateau where the early medieval fortress Eski-Kermen built at the end of the 6th century by the Byzantines in order to protect the ancient city of Chersonessus. Eski-Kermen is especially famous for its cave houses and fortifications. Continue to Poppy village to visit open air museum devoted to historical mode of life of the Ukrainians. After open-air lunch drive to Balaclava settlement to visit Balaclava Underground Submarines Base. Walk through the corridors and have a boat ride through the canal with dry dock for submarines. Proceed to Ruins of Cembalo Fortress on the hill above the bay entrance for photo stop before driving back to port.
From port have a short drive to City Center - Prymorsky Boulevard and Nakhimov Square. Walk along the Prymorsky Boulevards and take pictures of the Monument to Scuttled Ships. The next highlight of the tour is Panorama - a historical museum, which was opened in 1905 on the 50-th anniversary of the defense of Sevastopol in the Crimean War. Then drive to the Balaclava Harbor. There you will take a guided tour to see the unique Submarine Museum. After visit to the museum drive to Balaclava Sea Front to have a short walk along sea front before return to your coach to drive back to Sevastopol port.
1st visit is Panorama, museum housing circular canvas depicting 1st assault of Sevastopol on June 18, 1855. From there, make way thru central Sevastopol to Chersonesus to see ruins of Greek theatre, Roman temples, fortifications & mosaics. From ruins, proceed to Archaeological Museum. Visit St. Vladimir Cathedral. From Chersonesus coach goes to Prymorsky Boulevard & Nakhimov Square. Walk along Prymorsky Boulevard & take phots at Nakhimov Square & Grafskaya Quay. May remain in town after tour or reboard coach to return to port. Note: must walk 1.5 miles (roughly 3.5 hrs) over uneven & cobblestone surfaces with 85 - 115 steps. Conservative clothing required. Have approx 25 mins to shop.
Short drive from the city center brings you to the National Historical and Archeological Preserve of Chersonesus Taurica. While in Sevastopol, make sure not to miss a visit to this special circular building displaying one of the best panoramic battle-paintings of the world. The grandiose canvas with height of 14m and circumference of 115m shows just one out of 349 days of defense of the besieged city during the Crimean War.
Enjoy lunch at Balaclava restaurant located at the beginning of Balaclava sea front and then walk along the sea front. Continue to Balaclava Underground Submarines Base Museum. You can still see the canal with dry dock for submarines and special blast doors.
