Depart the pier and climb to an excellent viewpoint overlooking the charming town of Molde, Mount Varden. Proceed across the hills and travel along the Atlantic Ocean Road, to the quaint fishing village of Bud. Once in Bud, enjoy a coffee or tea and "svele," a local pastry specialty while taking in the scenery of the area. From Bud you will proceed to Ergen Fortress, which today is a restored memorial museum. With your guide, you may explore the underground network of bunkers, headquarters, and soldier's quarters complete with weapons and other memorabilia from World War II.
You start with a short drive trhough the centre before you board the ferry to Vestnes, drive along the fjord passing Skorgedalen valley, to Valldal and Stordal. Drive across the mountain plateau to Trolltindene Mountains and descend the Trollstigen Path to view the famous Troll Wall. Back at sea level you drive to Åfarnes for yet another ferry crossing, and continue panoramic driving back to Molde.
Depart the pier and drive through Molde and across the hills to the Fraenfjord. Continue towards the island of Geitoya, board a boat for a transfer to the island of Haholmen. Discover the enchanting fishing village of Haholmen that consists of 20 small islands and you will be treated to a film and presentation covering Ragnar Thorseth's voyages with three Viking ships, built by himself. After the presentation, enjoy refreshments in the rustic, cozy restaurant. After your visit at this explorer's paradise, the boat will take you back to Geitoya, where your coach is waiting to take you back to Molde.
Your coach will take you for a short city sightseeing tour of Molde before ascending to the Mount Varden viewpoint. From the viewpoint on Mount Varden, begin your scenic hike downhill. A short break will be made outside the Storli Lodge before continuing through the forest to the Romsdal Museum, an open-air collection of ancient dwellings. On your way back to the pier, pass the Rekness viewpoint with views of the town and the surrounding mountains.
After a tour of the charming downtown area, travel out of town to the open-air Romsdal Museum. Enjoy a live performance of Norwegian folk dances preformed by local children in regional costumes. The tour continues up to Mount Varden from where a dazzling panorama of 222 mountain peaks surrounding the fjord can be enjoyed. The tour then continues to the Molde Church situated high above the city center facing the market place and City Hall. Outside, the church tower is surrounded by a garden of roses and other flowers on the terraced hillside.
