This tour starts with a panoramic stop above the town of Klaksvik before taking the three mile long tunnel 500ft under the sea between Klaksvik and Leirvik on the island of Eysturoy. Our destination is Gøta. This historic area was the home of the famous Viking chieftain, Tróndur i Gøtu. He defended the old Viking ways against the desire of the Norwegian king and the Faroese chieftain, Sigmundu Brestisson, to convert the Faroese to Christianity. From Klaksvík, we drive through the 5,6 km long subsea tunnel (150m beneath sea level) between Klaksvík and Leirvík and up north through the Skála fjord passing idyllic villages. We drive through the tunnel to the west side of Eysturoy and head towards the village of Eidi were we cross the mountains to Gjógv. On the way, we stop at viewpoint Eidi overlooking this beautiful village.
