You meet your guide at the pier in Flam and after a short walk you reach the railway station and board the train, which takes you to Vatnahalsen. At vatnahalsen coffee and waffles is served, before you start walking. Walking down this beautiful, wild valley on gravel paths/roads, you will cross the Flam River several times on wooden bridges and through a small tunnel en route to Berekvam. There, you will rejoin the train for the return trip to Flam and the ship.
Kayaking is a very popular way to experience the nature, scenery and the tranquility of Aurlandsfjord and Flam. As you paddle along the fjord you will see mountain farms that cling to the hillside, and farm animals such as goats and sheep that graze alarmingly close to the edge of the fjord. This is the perfect excursion for experienced and first-time kayakers, as it features beautiful scenery.
In Flam you will board the famous Flam Railway, one of the world's most interesting works of railroad engineering and today included in the list of the world's most beautiful railway journeys. Through approximately 20 tunnels you travel up the steep cliffs to an altitude of 2845 ft above sea level. Along the way you will stop at the mighty Kjosfossen Waterfall. Upon reaching the final destination of the Flam Railway, Myrdal, a change of trains is needed. You then embark the Bergen Railway to continue your trip to Voss. I Voss you will be served lunch at one of the hotels in Voss.
You will pass from the head of the Aurlandsfjord through two long tunnels carved in the mountainside to the small village Gudvangen, situated at the head of the Naeroy Valley. Continuing through this dramatic fjord landscape, you will follow a well known salmon river. You will arrive at Tvinde Waterfall, which cascades down the mountainside. You will stop for a short stroll at the Tvinde Waterfall to take a photo or just enjoy the wonderful scenery. Returning on the same route, you will visit the traditional Stalheim Hotel. Here you will be served coffee/tea and pastries while enjoying the splendid view.
Enjoy the Flam Railwalway, a masterpiece of engineeringclimibing from the sea level to 2,800 feet crossing back and forth across rivers and through 20 tunel. Stop at the wonderful Kjosfossen Waterfall and enjoy coffe and waffles at Varnahalsen Lodge before reembarling the train back to Flam.
