After a 30 minutes drive, you will arrive at Troldhaugen, home to composer Edvard Grieg, beautifully situated on Nordaas Lake. One of Norway's best-known pianists will give you a glimpse of Edvard Grieg's life with musical examples. After the recital visit the villa & garden. The excursion continues back to the city center & the peninsula of Nordnes with its typical 19th century white painted wooden houses.

Starting your tour at the quay, you will have a short tour of the city center before proceeding to the city's outskirts, passing green slopes, ragged mountains and suburbs with old well-kept houses and gardens. After a short drive, you will arrive at Troldhaugen. After the visit at Troldhaugen your coach will take you to the new Fantoft Stave Church. The tour continues to the city center. Driving past King Haakon's Hall, the Rosenkrantz Tower and St Marys Church, you will reach the Hanseatic Assembly Rooms. A walk through this area will give you an impression and an intimate picture of the medieval life in Bergen. Return to the ship.

This tour will take in all the main sights, beginning with the wooden warehouses at Bryggen which date back to the Middle Ages. Watch for Haakons Hall (1247)-the largest and most imposing building of royal residency when Bergen was the political hub of Norway. Pass by the Rosenkrantz Tower and St. Mary's Church--the oldest building in Bergen, dating back to the first half of the 12th century. Before returning to the pier, you will stop at the market in the center of the city. Those passengers who wish to do so may leave the motor coach and make their own way back to the ship.

Your guide will walk you from the pier past the fortress of Bergenhus with the King Haakon's Hall and along "Bryggen" with all the old wooden buildings. You will reach Schotstuene, the assembly rooms, where the merchants once gathered for warm meals, held court meetings, and taught their apprentices. You will visit the Hanseatic Museum, one of the best preserved wooden buildings in Bergen and furnished in the 17th century style, the interior gives an intimate picture of merchant life in Hanse's day. After the visit, you may explore the city further on your own.

Your guide walks with you from the pier pasting the fortress of Bergenhus with the King Haakon's Hall and along "Bryggen" with all the old wooden merchants buildings that once belonged to the German merchants of the Hanseatic League. Continuing along the wharf, you will proceed to the lower station of the Mt. Floibanen Funicular where you will board the funicular. At the top of Mount Floien, you will walk along some of the many gravel paths above the city of Bergen. A leisurely downhill walk will return you to the upper funicular station for your return to the city center and the ship.
