The easternmost of the Canary Islands, Tenerife was forged by volcanic activity. Explore the dramatic landscapes and unusual geological formations found here, and marvel at vineyards planted in seemingly barren fields of volcanic rock. The tour includes a short ride on a camel, introduced to the islands in the 15th century, and a tasting of locally produced wine.
Traveling northward you pass by Haria with its gorgeous view of the valley of 1000 palm trees. First stop on our route is the Mirador Del Rio. It stands 600 meters high up on the summit of the Famara massive allowing you a magnificent view of the group of small islands and islets to the north of Lanzarote. Afterwards we continue to the "Jameos del Agua" cave. It is the result of volcanic activity and decorated by the famous artist Cesar Manrique. This salt-water lagoon is home to the blind little crabs, which are unique in the world.
Timanfaya is one of the thirteen national parks in Spain. The lack of wildlife creates an apparent silence that is almost palpable and which makes the advent of a volcanic eruption difficult to imagine; but the truth is that the land is still bubbling beneath the surface and you will be amazed at the craters and experiments shown, of the still active volcanoes. You will have the chance to take part on the Volcano Tour where you will be impressed by the rustic nature as well as by the recorded explanations you will hear along the tour.
Enjoy a half day at the town's main beach, with its dark, volcanic sands and beautiful promenade with cafes, restaurants, souvenir shops and various amenities. Umbrellas and sunbeds are available for rent onsite. A shopping mall is a 15-minute walk from the beach.
These walks are designed to suit all ages, physical conditions and interests and provide a totally different perspective of what usually is offered about the island. During the excursion you will visit several craters (Natural Park of Volcanoes), lava gorges, canals and tubes to understand the phenomena associated with volcanic activity, which will give you the sensation of being on another planet. Along the route you will be able to appreciate the variety of flora of the island and some really outstanding geological formations brought about by the erosion.
