Continue through suburbs with old well-kept houses and gardens. After a short stroll you will arrive at Troldhaugen, home to composer Edvard Grieg for 22 years, beautifully situated on a promontory jutting into Lake Nordaas. Troldhaugen, a living museum, consisting of the Edvard Grieg Museum, the Swiss-style house, the composer's cabin, the tomb and the concert hall. One of Norway's best-known pianists will give you a glimpse of Edvard Grieg's life with musical examples from various periods.

On the way to the Wharf, pass by the medieval castle King Haakon´s hall and reach the Hanseatic Assembly Rooms, where the merchants once gathered for warm meals, held court meetings and taught their apprentices. The walk continues along Bryggen Wharf, today on UNESCO's World Heritage List and a growing area for arts and crafts, where painters, weavers, and artisans have their workshops. Visit the Hanseatic Museum, one of the best preserved wooden buildings in Bergen. After the visit, you may explore the city further on your own, or return to the ship.
Hiking Mount Floien - BN04 -

Walk by the old picturesque merchant buildings of Bryggen, the oldest section of town, dating back to the Hanseatic era. Continue along the wharf, proceed to the lower station of the Mt. Floien Funicular to board the funicular. During the approx 5-minute ride, travel to the top of Mount Floien, some 1,000 feet above sea level, enjoying the view of the port and harbor below. At the top of Mount Floien, walk along some of the many gravel paths above the city, through the hilly woodlands to the idyllic Lake Skomakerdiket. Proceed uphill to take in the view of the surrounding fjord and its multitude of islands. Your guide will lead you through backwoods trails, possibly reaching Rundemanen.

Pass the fortress of Bergen, Bryggen wharf and the fish and flower market. The tour continues south through Bergen's attractive suburbs. At Nordas Lake you will pass the royal residence Gamlehaugen. Get a glimpse of the Fana Church and enjoy the views on top of Fana mountain, before descending to Lysefjord. You will embark a small boat crossing over to the Lysoen Island. The beautiful and extraordinary villa on Lysoen was built as a summer residence for the Norwegian violin-virtuoso Ole Bull in 1873. Tour the villa and gain an introduction into the composer's life. Waffles and coffee or tea will be served in the cosy café.
