Today is about flamingos! Enjoy a leisurely drive through one of the best preserved mangrove areas in the Caribbean. Along the way, your guide will be on the lookout for Bonaire's most famous bird, the shy flamingo. Bring your camera! A short stop at the beautiful Sorobon beach to refresh yourself with a dip in the water, or a cold drink. Onwards to find more flamingos! Visit the Salt flats, home to the protected flamingo sanctuary, and hear how salt is produced today on Bonaire, and how it was mined by the slaves in the 19th century. At the Slave Huts, see & touch history as you visit the original huts used as shelters for the slaves working the saltpans. Your guide has a salt gift for you!
Discover mangrove forests with an experienced guide as you gently glide through the crystal-clear waters of the National Park at Lac Bay. These sheltered mangrove canopies, declared a National Park Preserve by the Bonairean government, can only be visited with a trained guide. These are the nurseries of the coral reefs and create essential breeding grounds for birds. Your boat trip takes you through shallow waters, slipping through narrow canals, making it possible to see a great deal of marine life right from the boat. This is a noise-free experience aboard an electrically powered boat. With room for only 8 people, it is an exclusive experience.
