"Pilot's Choice" Glacier Explorer, JU07, Juneau, Alaska
Marvel at vistas seen by few - high alpine lakes, "icefalls" hanging from sheer cliffs, and some of the most remote peaks and glaciers in the Juneau Icefield. Your pilot will create the best possible flight seeing based on the weather and glacier conditions. You'll land in two different locations, where you will continue the tour on foot! Approx. 50 minutes of flight time and 30 minutes for landings. Participants must register their body weight at the time of booking. Guests weighing 250 lbs. or more will be assessed a weight surcharge ($100.00) which will be manually added to your account.

Next stop at Iris Meadows and be on the lookout for wildlife before continuing though the old growth forest. At the beach enjoy a snack and scenic views before returning to Sitka. Travel by floatplane to one of the finest bear-viewing venues in Alaska. After a short van ride to the trailhead, you will hike approx. 0.5 miles on a well-maintained trail to the viewing platform overlooking rapids where salmon head upstream to spawn. It is here where black bear gather to feed and bald eagles perch in the surrounding trees waiting for the fish scraps left by the bears. The likelihood of seeing bears are good, although sightings are not guaranteed. Approx. 40 minutes total flight and 60 minutes at the viewing platform. Tour is available from late July.

In Ketchikan, the distance to the wilderness is measured in feet. In your inflatable, the distance to unforgettable is 2.5 hours! After gearing up, you'll step into your boat for an exhilarating, extraordinary trip. You or someone in your party will drive the small boat while you follow the guide's boat as he/she interprets your historical, cultural and ecological adventure. You may search for bears, seals and spawning salmon or perhaps admire totem poles at Saxman Native Village. You may even cruise Ketchikan's historic red light district Creek Street and historic Thomas Basin. The route is determined by current wind, tide and weather conditions. Drivers must be at least 26 years of age.

If you are within the 4 days, you will then need to purchase your shore excursions onboard; land excursions would need to be purchased directly through your Tour Director on the land portion of the Alaska Cruisetour. For example, if you are sailing on October 18, you can make Shore & Land Excursion purchases online until October 13.
