Located in the agriculturally rich Okanagan Valley, Kelowna was built upon the fruit-growing industry. In addition to farm-fresh food and picturesque views of Lake Okanagan, panoramas of flowering orchards provide a scenic backdrop. While an undeniable draw, Kelowna's natural assets aren't all this city offers. It is steeped in history, especially that of the Okanagan people. Its name derives from an Okanagan language term for "grizzly bear." The city is also heralded for its many wineries, each of which offers wine tasting and a few that will even provide you with a behind-the-scenes look into the world of wine.
