Kings Wharf, Bermuda
Uncovering authentic local finds and having experiences that make you feel like you’ve really connected with a place are important elements in ensuring an extraordinary vacation. We’re taking advantage of our partnership with Travel + Leisure to get their editors’ recommendations and insider tips on the places you will want to visit. Here are their picks for just one of the 150 destinations they covered.
Bermuda Railway Trail
This flat, 18-mile path runs along an old railroad bed from one end of the island to the other. Parts of the trail are blissfully isolated and pass ocean overlooks—perfect for a quiet walk far from the madding crowd.
Dockyard Glassworks
Watch glassblowing demonstrations at this studio and gift shop in the Royal Naval Dockyard, now a pedestrian village on Bermuda’s western end. Nautical-themed pitchers and paperweights make for one-of-a-kind—and portable—souvenirs.
National Museum of Bermuda
Eight historic buildings on 10 acres make up this museum on the edge of the Royal Naval Dockyard. The Queen’s Exhibition Hall once stored more than 4,000 kegs of gunpowder; today it displays treasures recovered from shipwrecks in the 16th and 17th centuries, including Chinese porcelain, gold jewelry, and a war club from Guyana.
