Must-Sees from the Editors of Travel + Leisure

Maritime Park

During summer months, plays and concerts attract locals armed with picnic provisions to this park overlooking the Black Sea. You’ll also find striking sculptures, beautifully designed flower gardens, and the occasional café. Stairs from the park lead directly down to the beach.

Archeological Museum

Housed in a former girls’ school, the small museum showcases artifacts dating to the fourth century B.C. The Neolithic, Stone, and Bronze Ages are represented by stone and bone tools; later pieces include a coffin of a Thracian priestess, a statue of Apollo, and a number of marble reliefs.

Soviet Army Monument

The towering memorial, dedicated to the Red Army, is one of the best-maintained memorials of its kind left in Eastern Europe. A saluting Russian soldier tops the marble shaft; below, scenes of Soviet soldiers fighting Nazi troops are detailed in bronze.
