Brisbane, Australia
Uncovering authentic local finds and having experiences that make you feel like you’ve really connected with a place are important elements in ensuring an extraordinary vacation. We’re taking advantage of our partnership with Travel + Leisure to get their editors’ recommendations and insider tips on the places you will want to visit. Here are their picks for just one of the 150 destinations they covered.
City Botanic Gardens
Visitors can explore Australia’s native flora and fauna at the city’s waterfront park, a 49-acre expanse crisscrossed with running trails, picnic-worthy green spaces, and public art works. Need a snack? Head to the City Gardens Café, originally the garden curator’s house, for coffee and snacks.
Riverlife Adventure Center
Kayak solo or with a guide through this outdoor outfitter on the Brisbane River. An outing is especially fun in the evening, when river traffic dies down, boats are lit with lanterns, and the Southern Hemisphere constellations put on a show.
Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary
This reserve protects koalas from deforestation and overhunting—and is one of the rare places where visitors can hold the endangered marsupials. The facility is also home to other native species, from platypuses and wombats to dingoes and rainbow-colored lorikeets. Visitors are welcome to feed the kangaroos and emus.
Be sure to visit our Shore Excursions page or speak with our onboard Destination Concierge for arrangements to any of these must-sees.
