Port Combination: Los Angeles, California to Los Angeles, California

Uncovering authentic local finds and having experiences that make you feel like you’ve really connected with a place are important elements in ensuring an extraordinary vacation. We’re taking advantage of our partnership with Travel + Leisure to get their editors’ recommendations and insider tips on the places you will want to visit. Here are their picks for just one of the 150 destinations they covered.
Getty Center
This reported billion-dollar, Richard Meier–designed museum is home to a collection of rare breadth. From van Gogh’s Irises to a dazzling display of French furniture from the reigns of Louis IV to VI, each exhibit is more comprehensive than the next. If time permits, head farther north to the Getty’s Malibu location: the Getty Villa educational center focuses on ancient Greek, Roman, and Etruscan art.
Egyptian Theatre
Sphinx heads, hieroglyphics, and four 20-foot-tall columns guard the courtyard of this landmark theater, where visionary showman Sid Grauman staged the first Hollywood premiere in 1922. Catch a flick just as Hollywood royalty did nearly a century ago in the 616-seat house, which was restored in 1998, complete with a red carpet entrance.
Venice Beach
The seven-acre seaside park—full of palm trees, green lawns, and roller dancers—is part of the appeal, but most locals and visitors alike come to this 500-foot-wide beach for the people-watching. Head to the Ocean Front Walk, lined with art galleries, ice cream parlors, and surf shops, to get a sense of the Venice subculture in all its vibrancy.
Be sure to visit our Shore Excursions page or speak with our onboard Destination Concierge for arrangements to any of these must-sees.
