Stewardship Report

Celebrity Cruises' commitment to good corporate citizenship extends throughout our organization, from senior management to the crew members onboard our ships. We know that clean oceans and pristine destinations are good for the environment, good for our guests, and good for business.

We've taken several steps to continuously improve our environmental efforts:

  • Placing an Environmental Officer onboard every ship starting in 1996
  • Receiving certification to international environmental management standard ISO 14001 in 1998
  • Installing smokeless gas turbine engines on eight ships from 2000-2004
  • Investing heavily in state-of-the-art wastewater treatment technologies, such as Advanced Wastewater Purification (AWP) systems, to reduce our impact on the environment.

The development of our environmental stewardship strategy is an ongoing and collaborative process with teams of experts from Celebrity Cruises, Conservation International, and our newest partner, Sustainable Travel International. As our strategy develops, we will continue to communicate with our employees, guests, shareholders, suppliers, and travel partners about our ongoing commitment to protecting the destinations and waters where we operate. Read more about our efforts and accomplishments below.

For 2012, in line with our philosophy of continuous improvement, we have also created a supplementary Content Index of all the sustainability information available in our multiple public disclosure documents, using the structure of the Global Reporting Initiative’s G3.1 guidelines.
